    We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to extend our research and drive business growth through the exploration of new and untapped business opportunities and relationships. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers from Makerere University and report to the management team. As a business development manager, you will develop a network of contacts to attract new clients, research market opportunities, oversee product growth, identify trends and customer needs and build a sales pipeline for short/medium/long term in accordance with targets. You will work closely with the management team and a team of researchers to ensure that the agreed objectives and results are met.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

    ● Assess the commercial, financial, social, and reputational potential and
    patentability of any new AI/ML powered innovations and take full responsibility for
    driving the development and management of a number of cases through their
    whole ‘life cycle’ within their portfolio of IP opportunities. This will include:

    creating reputational benefit; identifying and supporting the development or
    translation of the research; understanding the market potential; understanding
    the needs of stakeholders; networking and connecting to identify commercial
    development partners; developing commercial interest; finding appropriate
    licensees; leading commercial negotiations; doing due diligence on potential
    development partners, establishing IP licenses or other arrangements and
    monitoring royalty income; working with colleagues to develop potential products.

    ● Understand and uncover clients’ challenges in adopting AI/ML health-powered
    solutions and show how these solutions can help them provide new capabilities,
    and new efficiencies.

    ● Work with partners and field teams to understand AI/ML health-powered
    solutions and help clients successfully adopt them.

    ● Define and deploy AI/ML campaigns and work with sales and field teams to
    implement them.

    ● Brand ambassador for our AI products in all dealings with prospective clients.

    ● Develop and implement overarching outbound sales and business development
    strategy, sales processes, structure, and best practices.

    ● Manage proposal response process, including detailed RFP requirements,
    content creation and inputs from various sources.

  • Qualifications

    ● Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical degree

    ● Experience in AI/ML technologies.

    ● Experience in technical leadership, product management, and business development,
    in and around information technologies.

    ● 1 or more years of experience with public cloud computing services.

    ● Experience in sales, marketing, or related fields.

    ● Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting

    ● Proven ability to plan and manage resources.

    ● Strategic thinking, excellent communication, and team-building skills.
