The Marconi Research and Innovations Laboratory is pleased to announce that Wayne Okello has been awarded the INTERVENE Scholarship Grant for his PhD studies. This competitive research fellowship supports Master's and PhD students across East Africa who are contributing to innovative research on drought resilience.
The INTERVENE Project is jointly implemented by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and the Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC), with funding from Austrian Development Cooperation. The initiative aims to strengthen East Africa's capacity to manage and adapt to extreme droughts through interdisciplinary research on water security, climate resilience, and gender-sensitive adaptation strategies.
Through this scholarship, Wayne joins a regional network of 14 researchers advancing solutions to drought challenges within the East African Community. This achievement reflects his dedication to impactful, solution-oriented research that supports sustainable livelihoods and resilience in the region.
