Marconi Research and Innovations Lab at Makerere University is proud to announce that it has been awarded an NVIDIA Academic Grant for its research project titled “Multitask Multimodal Model for Tuberculosis Chest X-ray Interpretation.”
The NVIDIA Academic Grant Program is a highly competitive initiative that supports leading academic institutions worldwide by providing access to advanced computing resources. This prestigious award provides the lab with access to 32,000 A100 GPU-hours valued at approximately 51,840 USD in equivalent cloud compute.
This grant will significantly accelerate the development, training, and evaluation of multitask and multimodal artificial intelligence models designed to improve automated tuberculosis screening from chest X-ray images. The research aims to enhance clinical decision support, particularly in resource-limited healthcare settings where timely and accurate diagnosis is critical.
Marconi Lab deeply appreciates NVIDIA for its generous support and continued commitment to advancing academic research in artificial intelligence and global health.
